A New Rosary Tradition and a Record Number of Seminarians
In this issue of the Bridge: September 23 through October 1, the relics of St. Pio of Pietrelcina — also known as Padre Pio — will travel from Stamford to Bridgeport, Fairfield, Trumbull, Monroe, Redding, and Norwalk for the first annual diocesan novena in his honor. All are welcome.
The bishop also announced a second new tradition: Rosary Weekend, honoring Our Lady of the Rosary, to be celebrated each year on the first weekend of October, beginning October 3 and 4, 2026.
That same weekend, the Seminarian & Vocations Collection will help support more than 40 men preparing for the priesthood, our largest number in over 30 years.
Bishop Frank Teaches the Faith is a new animated series for little children. They are three-minute episodes that come with resources for families.

The Most Reverend Frank J. Caggiano
Bishop Frank J. Caggiano is the fifth and current bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Bridgeport. In the first year of his leadership, the diocese hosted the Fourth Synod of the Diocese of Bridgeport—the first in 32 years—as an opportunity for reform and renewal by empowering the young Church, building up communities of faith, fostering evangelical outreach, and promoting works of charity and justice.
Since then, Bishop Caggiano has overseen the launch of the Institute for Catholic Formation, foundations to support works of charity, faith, and education, the formation of guilds for specific professions and devotions to grow in Christian discipleship in prayer and formation, and other ongoing initiatives to revitalize the liturgical and pastoral life of the diocese and to further engage the youth and young adults.
