STAMFORD— On a crisp early spring morning, against the backdrop of a beautiful blue sky, newly flown flags of the United States, State of Connecticut and the Vatican flew majestically over the resurgent campus of Trinity Catholic High School.
As part of its multi-year, multi-million-dollar renovation to its facilities, the three flagpoles were erected this past month in the front of Trinity’s campus. Bishop Frank J. Caggiano led several hundred students, faculty, families and local dignitaries in a ceremony blessing the flags and the flagpoles they will fly on.
“Loving Father, may these flagpoles and flags represent our duty to all our brothers and sisters who belong to or visit this school community”, the bishop prayed. “And may they remind us to be grateful for the blessings of freedom we enjoy, and of our responsibility to be good and contributing members of our community.”
The Knights of Columbus Color Guard escorted each of the flags, borne by students and representatives of the three schools in the Trinity, Catholic Academy of Stamford and Cardinal Kung Academy family. Following prayers of blessing for each flag, the flags were raised by Trinity students, all Eagle Scouts. A student choir from Trinity’s sister school, The Catholic Academy of Stamford, sung the National Anthem, God Bless America and other songs during the flag raisings.
The Bishop recently dedicated extensive renovations to the school’s media center, classrooms, offices, labs and guidance wings, which were completed late in late 2018- all part of a master plan to create the new center of Catholic identity and education in Lower Fairfield County.
Bishop Caggiano is scheduled to return to Trinity on June 9 to dedicate a soon-to-be-completed wing which will house the Upper School of the Catholic Academy of Stamford beginning this fall.
