Trinity Announces Football Included in Full Slate of Fall 2019 Sports Programs

STAMFORD— Trinity Catholic High School is pleased to announce a full slate of sports for its 2019 fall sports program. These include varsity football, boys’ and girls’ soccer and cross-country, and girls’ volleyball.

Athletic Director Jack Kelly and Trinity Principal Scott Smith have announced that an extensive co-op process with Stamford’s J.M. Wright Technical has been approved by both schools. A varsity team of around 40-45 players is anticipated- the largest roster to play under the Trinity colors in a decade.

“Co-Ops are enabling public and private schools alike to offer sports that otherwise would have to be cut due to lower budgets, enrollment or participation”, states Trinity’s Kelly. “Trinity has had a proud football heritage for decades. Wright Tech, without football for several years now, has a pent-up desire for high- school football”, Kelly continues, “This is a win-win for both schools and especially the kids”.

The two schools will begin fall workouts together starting August 19 at Trinity’s athletic complex. Their season, in the challenging, competitive FCIAC conference will kick-off September 13 at Norwalk, before the first home game the following Friday, September 20 vs. Danbury. Its Homecoming Game is scheduled for November 9 vs. cross-town rival Westhill.

“We welcome the students from Wright Tech to the family here at Trinity Catholic,” states Principal Smith. “This co-op will allow many student-athletes from both schools the opportunity to play football. We are excited to partner with Wright Tech.” J.M. Wright Tech Principal, Phyllis Bartoli states: “We’re looking forward to a great season of football with Trinity Catholic, one that benefits the students of both schools.”
